Partner with me

Growing by acquisition, with a partner who knows boats.

Buying a business is a big step, whether it's your first or your fifth. Alongside my own acquisitions, I partner with marine business owners and capital partners to find, shape and close the right deal, from a small add-on to a planned succession.

Who this is for

Owners who want to grow

You run a solid marine business and would like to add a neighboring service, a second location, or a supplier you already depend on.

Owners planning succession

You want the business to carry on in good hands, and would like help finding and shaping the right next step.

Capital partners

You'd like to back established marine businesses and value a partner with real time on the water and a clear, careful process.

How it works

One steady point of contact, from the first conversation to the weeks after closing.

  1. Start with a conversation

You tell me what you're trying to do: add a neighboring business, plan for succession, or grow into a new part of the marine trade. No paperwork, no obligation.

  2. Agree what a good fit looks like

Together we write down the kind of business that makes sense: what it does, where it is, its size, and what matters to you about how it's run.

  3. Find the right businesses

I look for owners who may be open to a conversation, including ones who have never put their business on the market. Brokers are welcome too.

  4. Shape a fair deal

We work out a structure that suits both sides, with capital partners where needed. That can include seller financing or a gradual handover.

  5. See it through to closing

I help keep diligence, paperwork and timelines moving with your lawyers and accountants, so nothing stalls.

  6. Settle in well

After closing, the focus is on looking after the team and customers, and making the first months calm and steady.

Why work with me

I spent more than eight years in yachting, working my way up from deckhand to captain of a 62-foot solar-electric catamaran. I know what it takes to keep a boat running, and the yards, suppliers and service people who make that possible.

I'm also building a group of marine businesses along that same supply chain. So I'm in the market every day, and I understand deals from the buyer's side as well as the owner's.

What you can expect

  • Plain, honest answers, including when something isn't a fit
  • Discretion with staff, customers and competitors
  • Respect for your advisors, and for brokers and their fees
  • A partner-first approach, with you in control of the decisions

Common questions

Do you put money into the deal?

Acquisitions are funded through capital partners or deal structuring tailored to each business. On some deals I may come in alongside you as a partner. We talk through what makes sense for your situation on our first call.

What does it cost?

Every situation is different, so there is no fixed price list. Let's talk, and I'll be straightforward about how we would work together before anything is agreed.

Do you only work on marine businesses?

Marine comes first: marinas, yards, service, supply and the businesses that keep boats running. If you're looking at something outside that, I'll tell you honestly whether I'm the right person.

Is this a fund or a brokerage?

No. I'm a hands-on principal buyer who partners with owners and capital partners. I'm not a fund, a broker or a financial advisor, and I'll always suggest you keep your own lawyer and accountant.

Where do you work?

Across the United States, based out of Florida.

Thinking about your next acquisition?

Let's talk. A first call is relaxed and private, and you decide what happens next.
